About Bob Bogdziewicz, Founder of the Engineering Concepts Institute
My name is Bob Bogdziewicz /boog-sev-ich/.
Creating the Engineering Concept Institute was been on my mind for several years while working as a high school vocational teacher in Kent County, Delaware. I began a career in education at the age of 30 after weaving through an unclear path in life which resulted in me becoming a journeyman machinist working in the ship repair and paper making industry. I have taught board drafting, processes of design and engineering, computer aided design, and pre-engineering courses prescribed by Project Lead the Way during my time working at two different high schools for over 20 years.
Working as a apprentice in a Norfolk Virginia shipyard that trained young people to be electricians, pipefitters, welders, sheet metal works, machinist and various other trades, then working at a vocational center that taught some of those same trades helped me became keenly aware that certain skills are nearly universally necessary.
That realization was consistently reinforced as I travel around the country and to various locations around the world as a hobby of sorts. I’ve seen teen aged children engaging with these skill at a high school in the Kingdom of Lesotho in southern Africa, at a manufacturing plant outside of Guangzhou, China and during annual competitive events conferences held by various Career and Technical Student Organizations around the country.
